EXPANDING THE DSI TEAM Two highly talented senior consultants, Tom Oser and Bernardo Sichel, have joined DSI as new leaders of our Telecom, Technology, and Media (TTM) and Latin American Practices. Tom Oser, Ph.D. Tom Oser is the Consulting Practice Leader for the Telecommunications, Technology and Media (TTM) industries at Decision Strategies International. He has a background in operations management and engineering in the telecommunications industry, as well as a decade of consulting experience in management and technology for Fortune 500 clients. His clients include companies spanning multiple industries, including financial services, healthcare, manufacturing, and pharmaceuticals, in addition to the core areas of TTM. He specializes in the interface between business and technology as well as the development of practical strategies and business models for technology clients. Prior to joining DSI, he provided strategy, marketing and management consulting services for early-stage technology companies in the venture capital and private equity markets. As a Vice President at Cap Gemini Ernst & Young, he held leadership roles in the telecommunications practice as well as eCommerce consulting. He advised clients on strategy and planning with “a bias toward action” that drove clients beyond paper plans to timely execution of winning business solutions. He was the founding director of the graduate studies program in Telecommunications Management as well as a member of the faculty at Stevens Institute of Technology. In the Stevens graduate programs, both on campus and in on-site corporate executive professional development programs, he has lectured on telecommunications, information systems and strategic management. He is a frequent speaker at national conferences and corporate client events. Mr. Oser earned a Ph.D. in Computer & Information Engineering and a Bachelor of Engineering from Stevens Institute of Technology, an MS in Telecommunications Systems from Southern Methodist University, and an MBA in finance and strategy from the Wharton School at The University of Pennsylvania. Bernardo Sichel Bernardo Sichel is the Director Latin America for Decision Strategies International. His main areas of interest are strategy and organization, specifically strategy development under high levels of uncertainty and effective business model design and implementation in emerging markets. He has extensive experience consulting for local, regional and multinational companies in Latin America in the consumer goods, telecommunications and financial industries. He has conducted work in the areas of growth strategy, corporate vision, organizational development and restructuring, among others. Some selected clients include Empresas Polar, Cargill and TIM (Telecom Italia Mobile). Mr. Sichel is the author of several articles including "Planning and decision making in times of uncertainty" which appeared in Prism (2003), Arthur D. Little's management journal. He has also led a study to understand the characteristics of effective business models in the consumer goods' industry in emerging markets. He worked for Procter & Gamble and Arthur D. Little before joining DSI. At Arthur D. Little he was the head of strategy and organization for the Latin American region and a member of the Prism Board. He holds an Economics degree from the Universidad Católica Andrés Bello and an MBA from the Harvard Business School.
