Arjen van den Berg, Ph.D.
Senior Consultant


Dr. Arjen van den Berg is a senior consultant with DSI. Arjen's main areas of interest and expertise are in strategic planning, strategic implementation, dynamic decision making, business model design and managerial cognition.

Arjen has extensive consulting experience in the global Energy, Technology and FMCG sectors and has worked across Europe and North America. He has conducted work in the areas of growth strategy, corporate vision, strategic risk management, business model development, organisational development and restructuring, among others. Clients include: National Grid, BP, Mitsubishi, OMV, Hess, BT, Intel, Cable and Wireless, Microsoft, Vodafone, Philips, Kenwood, Pioneer, Sharp, Nestle, Hero, Nutricia and McCain.

Prior to joining DSI, Arjen worked part-time as a consultant at Bain Consulting while holding a post-doctoral research position at Stern School of Business where he worked with leading strategy Professors including Professor Joe Porac (NYU), Professor Robin Wensley (WBS, Coventry) and Professor Joe Lampel (City University, London). Arjen has also authored a number of papers including "The Temporal Nature of Strategic Issue Interpretation and its Effect on Strategic Response" (together with Professor Robin Wensley, Warwick Business School) submitted to Academy of Management Journal, "The Impact of the Euro on Pricing Strategy: The Case of the Consumer Electronics Industry", Proceedings of the 31st European Marketing Academy (EMAC) Conference , and "The Social Construction of Dynamic Capabilities" (together with Professor Joe Porac, Stern School of Business, NYU).

Arjen earned his Ph.D. in Strategic Management from the Warwick Business School, University of Warwick. He also holds a BA in Business Administration/Management from the Amsterdam School of Business and a degree in Marketing from the Dutch institute of Marketing (NIMA). Arjen is a native speaker of Dutch, and is proficient in English and German with a basic knowledge of Portuguese.
